RIVENDELL 53, BMU 51: In Wells River, this second half of the home-and-home with the Bucks and Raptors was a far cry from Tuesday's 78-50 Rivendell win.
In crunch time, a Damian Smith 3-pointer gave the Bucks a 51-50 lead. The Raptors answered back with a layup with 30 seconds left; after the Bucks missed two crucial free throws, a Raptor free throw gave the visitors a two-point lead, 53-51 with 18 seconds left.
"We called timeout and drew up a play which we executed well," Bucks coach Brian Alley said. "We got a wide open look on a three, which missed. We got the rebound but the putback missed, then missed another putback."
"We played hard and well tonight," Alley added. "It was a hard-fought game between two good teams. There's not one thing that can be singled out, although missing 11 free throws in a two-point game...
"I think we're the best 5-4 team in D-IV," he added.
Tim Stimson, who scored 19 Tuesday, was held to five last night. Guard Damian Smith (game-high 20) and forward Nick Gordon (18) lit it up for BMU.
Next for BMU is a Saturday home game at 2:30 with Arlington.
