UNH gets $1M gift for need-based scholarships

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) -- A husband and wife who graduated from University of New Hampshire nearly 30 years ago have given the school $1 million for a scholarship program.

The university said up to 20 students each year will benefit from the scholarship fund from Michael Pilot and Yvonne Tuberty Pilot.

Michael Pilot, a Keene native, said UNH taught him how to learn and how to lead. He graduated in 1984 with a degree in business administration and management.

Pilot began with GE Capital in 1984 and has worked in numerous positions with the company, including several in sales management and senior leadership. He is the current chief commercial officer of GE Capital.
