College of Fine Arts to offer new writing program

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) -- The Vermont College of Fine Arts is offering a graduate student writing program.

The program has been moved from its long-time home at the University of Southern California and starts in Montpelier in September.

The School of Writing and Publishing is a two-year residential program. Thomas Christopher Green, the college's founding president, says it will help students launch careers in poetry, fiction, and in creative and non-fiction writing for stage, screen and new media.

Green said students also will be able to build a network of writers, editors and publishers dedicated to the art and business of literature.
