CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- Gov. Maggie Hassan is calling New Hampshire's trade mission to Turkey productive and informative after several days of meetings.
Hassan told reporters in a conference call Wednesday that she has helped open doors for the state and representatives of the seven businesses that traveled to Turkey to develop potential trading partners and markets. Hassan said she has stressed New Hampshire's strategic location to Boston, New England, the Northeast and Canada.
"My role has really been to highlight and showcase New Hampshire and New Hampshire businesses for Turkey," said Hassan.
Tom Blais, president of motorcycle maker Rokon of Rochester, said he has been on trade missions with former Govs. Steve Merrill and Jeanne Shaheen, and feels this mission is the best organized due to strong research. He said he sees the trip as a way to become a more effective exporter.
"I am not saying every one is a winner, but every one is a building block on how to operate overseas," he said.
Blais said he has sold motorcycles in Russia and Jordan, which makes Turkey a strategic location for his company.
Janet Kwiatkowski, owner of MAE Consulting Group, said the trip has opened her company to connections she would not have otherwise had.
