MAHWAH, N.J. (AP) -- Two New York men face drug charges after police allegedly found more than 40 pounds of marijuana inside their vehicle during a traffic stop in northern New Jersey.
Mahwah police tell The Record (http://bit.ly/1mG6dZp) that the men were in a minivan with Vermont license plates that was stopped Monday morning on Route 17 north. The driver, 22-year-old David Farone, and his 28-year-old passenger, William Mackey, both of Rensselaer, gave conflicting stories when questioned by officers.
After getting consent to search the vehicle, police allegedly found the marijuana stored in various compartments and a suitcase.
Both men face numerous charges, including possession of more than 25 pounds of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
It was not known Tuesday if either man had retained a lawyer.
