MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont will be buzzing with extra events to celebrate the Independence Day holiday this week.
Vermont officials say there will be at least 17 fireworks shows, a dozen parades and 95 special events planned for Fourth of July weekend celebrations.
Vermonters will be kicking off the celebrations across the state starting Thursday, including a fireworks show at the state's racecourse, Thunder Road in Barre.
Stowe will host "Seven Miles of Sales" from Friday through Saturday featuring over 60 locally-owned shops.
And a full-scale history pageant will occur at the Hubbardton Battlefield Historic Site Saturday and Sunday to mark the anniversary the only Revolutionary War battle fought on the soil of what is now Vermont.
