BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) -- The son of a former Vermont police chief has won a $110,000 settlement after suing the Ohio state patrol for excessive force almost a decade ago.
Eugene Wrinn of Guilford, Vermont, said he was disoriented after a 2005 crash and couldn't understand an officer's instructions to stay in his vehicle.
A court announcement Tuesday said Wrinn was hit in the head with a flashlight, had a stun gun used on him and was kicked in the legs.
Wrinn said he was hospitalized with injuries, including head trauma, and ran up more than $30,000 in bills.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports (http://bit.ly/VlVXzz ) Wrinn is the son of the former Brattleboro police chief who retired in June. The Ohio State patrol did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
