4th judge to be assigned police chief case

SALEM, N.H. (AP) -- A fourth judge will be brought in to hear the case of a New Hampshire police chief charged with the negligent storage of firearms at his home after a 15-year-old boy fatally shot himself there.

Last year, then-Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams said Chief Wade Parsons of Danville allegedly failed to secure his loaded service weapon when leaving his house to conduct errands while knowing that a juvenile was there. Parsons pleaded not guilty.

Reams said the teen shot himself with the weapon while alone in the house on March 11. He was identified as Jacob Carver, the son of Parsons' girlfriend.

The Eagle Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1sSfkf0) three judges have recused themselves, including one scheduled to hear arguments Tuesday.

A judge from outside the county will be asked to preside.
