Today, when I listened to the news, I was struck by how many economic indicators have rebounded since the bleakest days of the Great Recession of a few years ago. The stock market is hovering around 17,000, a stratospheric leap from the cavernous low of 6,443.27 in March of 2009, and the unemployment rate in Vermont has dropped to an impressive 3.3 percent, with our state being the envy of our New England neighbors. So if all these economic signs are so positive, why do I feel, in my head and heart, that this economy has not improved as much as every indicator would lead you to believe?

Florence Chamberlin and Amy Hale, from FLEK, Inc., were recently recognized with a Bronze Award by the Aster Awards, which honors excellence in medical marketing nationwide. The Bronze Award, which equates to the top 16 percent in the nation, was for Northeastern Vermont's Regional Hospital 2013 Annual Report titled Team Economy.
