We've been following the progress of the iconic Village Gun Store in Whitefield, New Hampshire for the last several months in the pages of this newspaper. Previous owners Stanley and Sandy Holz, along with daughter Leah Holz, held their 40th anniversary sale in June 2014, calling it the "last anniversary sale." At the time they planned to either sell the business or close if they couldn't find a buyer.

Go! Vermont and Creative Work Force Solutions announced a partnership with Jay Peak to provide their employees vanpool transportation from five communities across the Northeast Kingdom. In rural towns such as Canaan, Richford, Island Pond and Orleans/Barton, many potential workers have been unable to accept a job at the resort because they have no transportation options or simply can't afford the commuting costs.

Sue Taylor, owner of Artistic Gardens in St. Johnsbury, arranges Valentine's Day bouquets Thursday afternoon. The business, which was formerly located on downtown Railroad Street, moved to headquarters on Rabbit Plain Road a couple years ago following a devastating Railroad Street fire. Taylor said Valentine's Day business has been steady but that sales are always highest when the romantic holiday falls on a Friday. Sales are lowest when it falls on Sunday, she said.
