Athenaeum Celebrating Readings In The Gallery With Dedication Of New Sculpture
The St. Johnsbury Athenaeum continues its 21st annual Readings in the Gallery series with the program entitled, Poetry and Video, on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. Renowned poet, Rachel Hadas; multimedia artist, Shalom Gorewitz, and Jonathan H. Edwards, writer and healing practitioner will present their work through short videos and poems read aloud. Some of the videos feature voiceovers of Hadas reading her work but their style is painterly, neo-expressionist, rather than documentary. Some of the footage on the videos was shot at the Athenaeum, the Fairbanks Museum, and other Northeast Kingdom venues; the poems will be in Hadas's forthcoming collection, "Questions in the Vestibule." Following the presentation, the three artists will discuss their dialectical collaboration.

Peter Fletcher Concert At Cobleigh
Peter Fletcher will play in concert at the Cobleigh Library on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. He will perform selections from this new CD, an all-Grieg album in which he himself wrote the guitar transcriptions. Other works will include Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, Courante from the Third Cello Suite and Prelude in C minor and Fugue in G minor, BWV 999 and 1000.
