The NVRH Auxiliary membership recently met for their bi-monthly meeting to hear reports, and award scholastic achievement awards.
Gretchen Hammer, chairwoman of the NVRH Scholastic Achievement Award Committee presented four $1,000 scholastic achievement awards to the following individual's: Cynthia Briggs a NVRH staff member who will be attending Vermont Technical College in August where she has been accepted in their nursing program.
Shawn Burroughs an NVRH employee who will be attending Plymouth State University studying seeking a MBA in Health Care Administration.
Nicholas Ruede a Lyndon Institute senior will be attending The University of Vermont where he will study Biology with a pre-med concentration hoping to become an Orthopedic Surgeon.
Kaylee J. Crapo a St. Johnsbury Academy senior will be studying Radiology in Massachusetts.
Ashley Bruno, Director of Health Information Management was the guest speaker for the meeting. Ashley talked about how paper is no longer the driver for medical records. NVRH has been heading to electronic medical records for the last 15 years. It takes everyone in the hospital to create an electronic medical record from physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, etc. The next step for NVRH is to bring our patients on board so they can access their own medical record information via the internet. Currently, in-house patients and NVRH staff can view their own medical records. Overall, the feedback from staff has been very positive and has contributed to the efficiency of the health information department.
The last order of business for the membership was to draw the winners of the Annual Auxiliary Raffle which supports the Scholastic Achievement Awards. The following individuals were winners: 1st prize $300, Jack Fisher; 2nd prize $200, Rebecca Milaschenski; 3rd Prize $100, Carolyn DeRosia; 4th prize $50, Maggie Austin; 10 visits to the Club at Old Mill -- Charles Murray; Original Burke Bag- Rebecca Milaschenski; 10 Hand Designed Greeting Cards -- Fred Wells; English Tea Pot -- Merlyn Courser; Necklace -- Sue Laferriere; 3 baby sweaters -- Nancy Macy; 2 tea lights -- Holden Larsen; Maple Grove Gift basket -- Pat Jauch; and Nature Lighting Bread Board -- Dr. Thomas.
