On Saturday, June 7, North Country Home Health & Hospice Agency will host its annual Hospice Walk-a-Thon. This event has a longstanding tradition of bringing together supporters of Hospice and friends and family members of former hospice clients.
This year the Walk-a-thon is being dedicated in memory of Ray Burton who served the North Country so well for many years and received Hospice services at his time of need.
Ray's sister will be joining the event and organizers are inviting members of the community and former colleagues of Ray's to come together in his honor and in support of the mission. The Walk-a-Thon offers the choice of a 3- or 5-mile route starting at the NCHHA. Runners are also welcome to join the 5 miles fun run. Organizers welcome teams who may walk as a group and challenge other teams to compete in raising funds for the program.
Registration will open at 8 a.m., the runners will launch at 9 a.m. followed by the walkers. Registration is $25 for adults but will be waived for walkers who raise $50 in sponsorships. Registration for all youth under the age of 18 is $10, fee will be waived for those raising $20 in sponsorships. Prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers in eight age categories.
Raffles, prizes and refreshments will be provided including T-Shirts to the first 100 to register!
NCHHA is a non-profit, Medicare certified, community based program. It provides skilled and supportive services to families coping with life threatening illness. Hospice care is provided in individual's homes, and in area assisted living facilities and nursing homes. It also provides bereavement support to families and community members.
The service relies on supplemental fundraising to offset unreimbursed expenses. This event is the major annual fundraising event for the hospice program. All donations, monetary or in-kind, are tax deductible.
