Jeremy Ducharme earns academic honors at North Central College
Jeremy Ducharme, of East Hardwick, a sophomore at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. and a member of the men's cross country team, earned Academic All-CCIW honors for the fall of 2015. In order to earn this award, athletes must be enrolled as a full time student, have earned a letter during their past season, and have at least a 3.0 grade point average. Seventy-eight athletes at North Central received the award for their fall academics and athletic performances. Jeremy attended Hazen Union School in Hardwick.

LTS students learn about Channukah
CELEBRATING CHANUKAH -- Students in Deb Benning's third-grade class at Lyndon Town School recently celebrated Chanukah with the eighth-grade students that learned about Chanukah with Benning in 2010. The students learned about the history of the holiday and how to play dreidel, than broke up into table groups to play together. It was a fun time for all and a mini-reunion for Benning to see her former students. Participating in the event are: front row, third graders, Joe Thresher, Julian Thrailkill, Jacob Griffith, Annikan Percy, Tyler Montgomery, Kelsie Ruggles, Kira Tanner, Alida Apgar, Hailey Dunn, Lily Lafferty, Ryan McFeeley and Navaeh Aviles; back row, Benning, with eighth graders, Duncan D'Olimpio, Caitlin Taylor, Shea McCaffrey, Zach Tanner, Collin Gilman, Jaedyn Wade, Haleigh Gould and Jordan Adams.

Keene State names area dean's list students
The following area students have been named to the fall 2015 dean's list at Keene State College in Keene, N.H. To qualify for the dean's list, Keene State undergraduates must be enrolled in a degree program and must have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. Students must achieve a 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale to earn dean's list honors.

Gilman students meet with Superintendent
MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS -- Superintendent Mike Clark, of the Essex Caledonia Supervisory Union, met with grades six, seven and eight on Nov. 20, at each of the schools in the Lunenburg School District. In Gilman, students responded to Clark with plenty of energy. Generating lists of characteristics a middle school student should possess, there was a lot of good conversation and genuine commitment to the process. The results from each of the schools will be tabulated and then shared within a few weeks. It was interesting -- "Literacy" was number one at Gilman. Clark presented information about mission/vision statements and how various businesses identify themselves and their product. Monroe School holds food drive for needy families
FOOD DRIVE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES -- Monroe Consolidated School fifth-graders Mya Pushee and Jaden Beardsley organized a food drive for families in need in Grafton County. Bettie Ward, from the American Legion Auxiliary, assisted them, as did the Monroe School Wellness Committee. Food will be delivered to families before the Christmas holiday.

Lunenburg students attend Science presentation at Fuller Hall
PHYSICS MADE FUN -- Kindergarten through Grade 4 students from Lunenburg attended a Catamount Arts presentation on physics at St. Johnsbury Academy on Dec. 9. Called up on stage, several Lunenburg students were lifted by one student using the leverage of a well-placed fulcrum and a long lever. The star of the show was "Dr. Quintin Quark," former science teacher and Ringling Circus clown Ted Lawrence. The "Slapstick Science" was incredible, both educationally and as a teaching tool that clearly says "science is fun!"

Jennifer Watson, of Lancaster, N.H., was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Watson was initiated at Plymouth State University.
