Umbrella Celebrates Northern Programming With Fiesta Fundraiser
Umbrella, Inc. will host a South of the Border Fiesta Fundraiser at Cornucopia on Saturday, Sept. 6. Mexican fare prepared by program chefs and trainees, spirited salsa dancing and a silent auction will make for a fun-filled evening. All proceeds will support Cornucopia's Meals-on-Wheels and job training program for women in transition, and Umbrella's efforts to end intimate partner violence in the Northeast Kingdom.

On Aug. 12, John des Groseilliers, U.S. Army Reserve Ambassador presented an annual donation to The Veterans' Place in Northfield. Receiving des Groseilliers check is Phil Rowell, Case Manager for The Veterans' Place. In recent years The Veterans' Place has been instrumental in helping many veterans become self sufficient enabling them to lead independent and productive lives. Appointed by the Chief of the US Army Reserve, US Army Reserve Ambassador des Groseilliers advocates for and represents the Army Reserve in Vermont.

Rebecca Brown Speaks To Littleton Rotary
At the July 23 meeting of the Littleton Rotary Club, Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust (ACT) Executive Director Rebecca Brown shared the history, mission, and activities of the North Country's locally based non-profit land conservancy. ACT believes that conserving farms and forestlands supports the region's traditional economy and encourages local food and energy production. Brown said recent stewardship projects that have engaged children in the protection of brook trout and the stabilization of river banks may inspire the next generation of leaders. Brown is shown with incoming Rotary President Chad Stearns.

Lyndonville Rotary Visited By District Governor
Rotary International District Governor, Bruce Pacht, left and Lyndonville Rotary President Tim O'Neill visit at the July 30 Lyndonville Rotary meeting. Pacht was guest speaker during the meeting. He discussed Rotary's campaign to eradicate polio and their new "Light Up Rotary" theme. Pacht heads Rotary District 7850 which includes forty (40) clubs with 23 clubs in Vermont, 11 in New Hampshire, four in Quebec, one that spans the USA-Canada border, and one that spans the Vermont-New Hampshire border.
