LITTLETON, N.H. -- Playing one of their best games of the season, the Littleton Crusaders clamped down defensively all day and shut out the Colebrook Mohawks 5-0 on senior day Friday. As St. Johnsbury Academy prepares to hold a celebration of track and field excellence and a reunion of former coaches and track and field alumni athletes on Friday Oct. 17, 2014 at the school, a walk back down a Hilltopper "memory lane" is in order. CENTER HARBOR -- The second-seeded White Mountain Regional Spartans battled tooth and nail over 18 holes with top-seeded Hopkinton and third-ranked Newport before the Tigers claimed the Division IV title by 17 strokes over WMR. The Spartans in turn just barely slipped past the top-seeded Hawks by two strokes for runner up.

Male Athlete of the Week: Lyndon Institute's Fernando Tejero
Fernando Tejero's five goals in Lyndon Institute's two games last week would have been good enough for individual recognition. However, his second goal in last Wednesday's 3-2 win over Randolph not only won the game for the Vikings, but snapped a multi-season 44-game winless streak. It also snapped the Vikings into a winning frame of mind, as they won their next two to emphatically put into the past tense, the dubious streak.

Female Athlete of the Week: LRU's Alexis Smith
Lake Region came into the 2014 campaign loaded with veteran talent and gunning for a deep playoff run. At 9-1 the Rangers are well on their way, but some nagging injuries at key positions have opened the door for newcomers to step up. Alexis Smith has answered the call. One of only two freshmen on the roster, Smith has been a regular contributor on offense and a steady presence in the middle of the field.
