LYNDON CENTER — Responsible for rebuilding the Lyndon Institute football program that culminated in a berth in the Division II championship game this past fall, Vikings head coach Dan Nolan resigned Monday after six seasons.

ORLEANS -- Speedy junior guard Tyrah Urie led Lake Region with 13.3 points per game and helped the young Rangers get out from under a 2-6 start, to finish 11-9 and earn a trip to the Division II quarterfinals. A VBCA Dream Dozen selection and first team All-Mountain League pick, Urie's offensive production and defensive tenacity make her The Record's 2013-14 Female Basketball Player of the Year.

A North Country Life: Tales of Woodsmen, Waters, and Wildlife by Sydney Lea brought back so many memories that I found myself repeatedly drifting back in time as I read it. I knew the men and women he describes so well. To be honest, I did not know them but many just like them. I sorely miss the time spent with those I did know, learning about the north country and an era now gone.

Lancaster Girls B team awarded Good Sportsmanship trophy for the Rotary Basketball Tournament
LANCASTER LANCERS AWARDED GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP TROPHY -- The Lancaster Lancers Girls B basketball team were the recipients of the Good Sportsmanship Trophy for a girls team during the St. Johnsbury Rotary Basketball Tournament, held March 4-15. The award has been presented to one girls team and one boys team since 2004, in memory of St. Johnsbury Rotarian Paul Sweeney, who dedicated himself to the tournament and was committed to the youth of the area. Members of the Lancaster team include: front row from left, Maddy Bean, Amaya Dodier, Lexi Welch and Kennedy Blanchette; back row, Coach Bob Burrill, Kaitlyn Nelson, Brianna Watson, Makenna Force and Adrianna Robinson.
