Raymond Belanger

Raymond Belanger, 80, of Candia, N.H., formerly of Spring Hill, Fla., and Pembroke, N.H., peacefully took his last sip of Dunkin Donut's ice coffee on Feb. 21, 2014.

Ray was born in St Johnsbury, Vt., on Oct. 6, 1933, to the late Henry Belanger and Geogianna Toussaint and later his stepmother, Marie Belanger. Ray grew up in St. Johnsbury and was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Trade School.

In 1954, Ray enlisted into the United States Air Force and proudly served the country he loved. During the Korean War, he served in England, Egypt and Pakistan as a propeller mechanic.

Ray married Gloria Thibeault in 1955 and was happily married for 59 years. They enjoyed traveling throughout the Northeast, Canada, France and Florida where they eventually retired in 1998. In his spare time, Ray enjoyed flying model airplanes, building model railroads, swimming, Dunkin Donuts Coffee and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Some of Ray's fondest memories are of listening to his wife play the piano.

Prior to retirement, Ray worked at Armtec (Meggitt) Industries and Hadco Corporation as an Electronics quality control supervisor. During retirement years, he worked with his wife in the Hernando County School District in Florida.

Ray is survived by wife Gloria Belanger of Pembroke; his five children and their spouses: Susan Spann and Martin of Killen Texas, Michelle Clark and Steven of Merrimack, N.H., Barbara Lambert and Gary of Pembroke, N.H., Chuck Belanger and Debra of Candia, N.H., and Jim Belanger and Shaunda of Londonderry, N.H.; along with 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Maurice Belanger of Winooski, Vt., and Jeanne Bean of Lyndonville, Vt. He was predeceased by his brother, Henry Belanger, and grandson, Lamar Gray.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main Street in Pembroke, N.H. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown. Burial with military honors will follow at noon at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.

In lieu of flowers and to honor his grandson, Lamar, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Belanger's name to Make-a-Wish America, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 6062, Albert Lea, MN 56007-6662.

An on-line guestbook is available at petitfuneralhome.com.
