Jane Evelyn Peck of Danville passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 12, 2012 at the age of 86.
She was born in Plainfield Union, N.J. on Aug. 5, 1926, the daughter of Frederick C. and Mary Evelyn (Carman) Peck. She graduated from high school in Metuchen, N.J. in 1943.
Jane worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone in New Brunswick, Metuchen and Toms River. She belonged to The Communications Workers of America and was member of the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen. She also volunteered at the Community Memorial Hospital in Toms River.
In 1964 Jane moved to Danville where she was employed at Noyle Johnson Insurance and New England Telephone in St. Johnsbury. She returned to live in Beachwood, N.J. until returning to Danville in 1987. She immersed herself into the community, becoming a member of the Danville Congregational Church, the Danville Woman's Club, the West Danville Homemakers and the Diamond Chapter #14 O.E.S.
She is survived by lifelong friend Mrs. Winifred Farquhar of Pittsburg, Pa., several cousins and their families.
Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home this Saturday, Sept. 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Memorial services will be held in Danville this Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Danville Congregational Church with the pastor, the Rev. Douglas Carter, officiating..
