"Heaven has acquired another angel"
Edith Ida Savoy Sloan passed away peacefully on Nov. 10, 2012, at Starr Farm Nursing Home in Burlington, Vt. Those who knew her will miss her but after 25 years she was ready to rejoin the love of her life, Hubert Dustin Sloan. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Edith was on born on Oct. 21, 1921, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to Frank Savoy and Ida Maude Maxwell Savoy. She married Hubert in 1939 at the Church of Notre Dame in Montreal. Edith is survived by her four children: Marcia Louise Sloan Quinn of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Jeffrey Hubert Sloan of Richmond, Vt., John David Sloan and Judy Sloan MacReynolds.
Though she lived the majority of her life in her beloved Island Pond, Vt., she moved, with her family, to Montreal, Couteau Quebec, and Portland, Maine, as the wife of a CNR Engineer. She will be remembered as a woman of strength, resilience and an amazing friend who loved a good laugh. She was a loving Mother who spent 91 years contributing her love, knowledge and generosity to all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at St. James Catholic Church in Island Pond where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Island Pond, Vt.
