Dorothy J. "Dottie" Bijolle, 75, of St. Johnsbury, died peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury.
She was born March 29, 1937 in Rutland, Vt., the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Rash) Demars. Dottie attended St. Johnsbury schools as well as St. Johnsbury Academy.
On Dec. 17, 1955, she married Joseph A. Bijolle. After raising her children Dottie worked for Ames Department Store, then Maple Grove Farms of VT, then she volunteered at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, and then she worked for Price Chopper, all of St. Johnsbury.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- and great-great-grandmother, Dottie was a social butterfly who had many friends and made new friends easily. Her laughter was contagious.
Dancing, Karaoke, camping at Big Rock Campground in N. Stratford, N.H., and watching her husband, children and grandchildren race at Northeastern Speedway in Waterford and later at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, N.H., brought her much pleasure. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and the Women of the Moose Club in St. Johnsbury.
Survivors include five children, Tony Bijolle of St. Johnsbury, Kathy Taylor and husband Terry of St. Johnsbury, Tim Bijolle and wife Tammy of North Concord, Lisa Bijolle and companion Michael Fessenden of Waterford and Tom Bijolle of East St. Johnsbury; 12 grandchildren, Ginny, Jason, Kevin, Scott, Chris, Kori, Janet, Tim, Nate, Megan, Leah and Nick; 23 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; one great-great-grandson; three brothers, David Demars and wife Christine of St. Johnsbury, Paul Demars and his companion Ruth of St. Johnsbury and Kenneth Demars and wife Sara of Corinth; her in-laws, Jackie Couture of Vergennes and Jim Bijolle of Grapevine, Texas; nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Joseph in 2010; an infant daughter, Tammy-Sue Bijolle; and a brother, Richard Rash.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday Jan. 19th from 12-3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 30 in Lyndon located on Route 5 south.
Spring Graveside services are planned for Friday, May 24, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury.
